Worn out feet for St Helena Hospice

Date: Thursday 16th June 2011

A duo from Home Instead Senior Care in Frinton joined thousands of others to take part in the Colchester Midnight Walk to help raise £125,000 for St Helena Hospice.

Community services representative Stephanie Blackman and assistant care manager Julia Jayne completed the 7.5 mile circuit in 2 hours 30 raising £441 for the cause between them.

Commenting Stephanie said, “The midnight walk was a fantastic event and there was a great atmosphere with everyone waving us on and shouting encouragement. We are thrilled with the amount raised, and hope this helps to make a real difference to the hospice.”

Julia commented: “Although my feet were so sore I had to wear flip flops for a few days afterwards, I would definitely take part in an event like this again. In fact Stephanie and I are currently planning for the Relay for Life which we are embarking on in mid July. I think we had better get training!”

The Cancer Research Relay for Life will see Stephanie and Julia join with family and friends to raise funds to take part in the event at Engaines School Playing Field in Little Clacton on 16th & 17th July. With a range of entertainment and activities planned spanning the two day period, the event will be a fantastic opportunity to bring the local community together and Team Home Instead is really excited to be taking part.
