Details about Recycling Centre Household Waste:
HEIGHT BARRIERS OPERATE.
FROM 17/12/2004 THEY ARE SET AT 1.95 METRES.
THE CONTRACTOR MANAGING EACH SITE IS AUTHORISED TO OPEN THE BARRIERS TO AN
OVERHEIGHT VEHICLE CARRYING THE RESIDENTS OWN HOUSEHOLD WASTE FROM 12.00 HRS
UNTIL CLOSING TIME EVERY SUNDAY.
(UNLOADING FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE AT EACH SITE INCLUDING THE USE OF A
WHEELBARROW/TROLLEY ON REQUEST.)
THE COUNTY COUNCIL HAS REVIEWED THE POLICY REGARDING ACCESS TO RECYCLING CENTRES
FOR HOUSEHOLD WASTE AND HAS AGREED THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO THE CIVIC AMENITY
SERVICE.
• Trailers – carrying residents own household waste will be admitted access to Recycling Centres for Household
Waste subject to Health and Safety restrictions and provided there is sufficient space. If sites are very busy
residents may be asked to wait until space is available or return at another time. At busy times please see centre
supervisor for guidance.
• Soil and/or hardcore – are not household waste but construction waste. As a special service to residents
quantities of soil and/or hardcore from a residents own domestic residence will be limited to one average car
boot load (with seats up), equivalent to 3 Recycling Centre wheel barrow loads, per household in any 28 day
period (combined total of soil and/or hardcore). A more convenient way to dispose of soil and hardcore and
other large quantities of DIY waste is to use a local skip hire service or a ‘bulk bag’ company
